Jump in With Both Feet

Sometimes I find myself really interested in learning a new skill or new subject, only to be influenced by what others may think about it.  This year I am taking more leaps into the unknown and so far, I really like how I’m feeling.  I’ve decided to learn a new instrument.  No, not one that others would find “respectable or impressive” but the one that really stimulates my senses.

In society, we get too caught up about our image and standing.  While it is definitely important to give those you do business with a sense of confidence, it is equally important to be who you are.  Showing that I believe in myself makes others believe in me too.  I may not always come off as someone that will do them any “networking” good, but on the contrary, in the end, I’ll be the one still there, strong and true.  I’ve learned that when push comes to shove, I know the people that are important.  I am glad they are the ones sharing this life with me.

Of course I must apologize in advance to my poor family who will have to bear the brunt of my learning said instrument.  Although there is probably a little poetic justice in there somewhere.

Here’s to 2012 and new adventures!
